Mold remediation (clean up) needs to be completed by a professional company certified in Mold clean up procedures or you can (most likely will) easily spread the problem.
If there has been a lot of water damage and/or mold growth covers more than 10 square feet don't try to handle the job yourself. When cleaning up mold it is important to limit your exposure to the spores and the mold itself. Mold spores will float in the air especially when they are disturbed so clean up procedures are critical to not spreading the mold issue further and protecting your and the workers health during the clean up.
A qualified cleaning company will be using N-95 respirators, goggles, rubber gloves and protective clothing. Every item removed must be wrapped in plastic or put into plastic bags before transported thru the home or business. Any area to be cleaned must be enclosed in protective plactic barriers to keep disturbed mold spores from spreading thru out the home or business and making the problem worse.
Biocides are chemicles designed to kill mold spores and generally two types will be applied, a spore killer and a preventer.Bleach is not reccommended unless the area to be cleaned also needs to be disinfected. Do not run heating and air conditioning equipment because the air could be contaminated and spread the problem further.
It is impossable to get rid of all mold but what you can do is fix the moisture problems causing the mold growth. Get the spore levels within the property down below the outdoor average levels for your area.
Remember if it is not cleaned up correctly the mold can easily come back so be sure to use a professional that has experience with mold issues and the proper equipment to find, diagnose and correct the problem. YOU CAN'T JUST WIPE IT OFF, IT WILL COME BACK.
